The American Dream. For Ghostwridah, those three words defines him perfectly. Without a doubt, Ghostwridah has been on my radar for about 6 years and has possibly been in the position he’s in now, before. But this position and this time, it’s a lot more different for Ghost. This time he’s in control and is showing a different side to Miami’s music scene.
If you we’re aware of Miami’s hip-hop scene possibly back in 2005-2006, you we’re pretty familiar with the movers and shakers. Ghostwridah was definitely one of them. With DJ Ideal in his corner, Ghostwridah was definitely making moves to being one of the top artist out of Miami. Unfortunately things didn’t work out for Ghostwridah and DJ Ideal’s collaboration and Ghostwridah was forced to re-strategize. And from my observation, that wasn’t a bad thing.
Where Ghostwridah is today, is probably one of the best positions he’s ever been. He’s dropped 4 projects within the last 3 years (305’s and Heartbreaks, In Love With My Future and the new American Alien), he’s currently signed to Poe Boy/Hiram Group by way of his own imprint Lyfe Music Group, he’s worked with Freeway, MayDay, Brisco, Billy Blue, Paul Wall and many more and he is pretty much performing everywhere now-a-days. I’m pretty sure he is doing much more, but as you can see, Ghostwridah is definitely keeping himself very busy and is working towards expanding himself as well as his brand.
His new project American Alien, definitely gives you an incite as to who Ghostwridah is and where he is heading. All original songs and production, American Alien came out at the beginning of May. Songs like, “The American Dream” , Ghostwridah paints you a visual as to what he sees in his American Dream. Lines like “While you chasing pussy, I’m building a enterprise”, let’s you know he is focused on his goal. In “Bandwagon” ft. Paul Wall, he’s addressing those who doubted him before but all the sudden want to be part of his success. “So Alive”(a personal favorite) ft. Billy Blue gives you that feel of accomplishment and let’s us know that Ghostwridah is aiming for greatness. The project overall (and to me the best one out of the other three) brings lyricism with a little wordplay but also thoughtful and empowring music.
Overall, Ghostwridah has shown growth and determination within the last 6 years. his persistence has placed him in a great position and because of this, he is iBlog126′s June artist of the month.
